Monday, June 25th.  Thanks for all who are following and supporting me so far.  My mind has been running in circles with creativity, and I finally had to slow down and write some things down.  In this post, I am sharing a new crochet square that I have created and called the 8 Pointed Star Square.  This is just a preliminary picture.  My idea is to join two of these squares with a long crocheted edging/strap to make a small cross body messenger bag.  As I continue to work and refine this project, I will post pictures.

Small Basket

So today, I will post my first pattern.  I have seen similar designs on other internet locations, but it is not my intention to copy anyone elses pattern or design.  I did not use anything but my imagination and knowledge when designing this basket.   So to begin;

Materials:
about 2 ounces of worsted weight yarn per color, project is worked holding two strands of yarn together.  I used Red Heart Super Saver and Michael's Impeccable both acrylic yarns.  (this is a great project to use up those scraps!)
Size I hook, or any size needed as guage is not important, tight stitches for structure are more important.

Pattern:

Whenever I work in the round, I like to begin with a magic loop because it does not leave a hole in the center of the project, however, if you like to begin with a chain, chain 3 and join.

Row 1:  8 single crochet in loop made by chains or magic loop.  Join last stitch to first with a slip stitch, chain 1.

Row 2:  Two single crochet in each sc around (16 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 3:  SC in first sc, two sc in next sc sc in next sc and two sc in next sc around (24 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 4:  SC in first two sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next two sc and two sc in next sc around (32 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 5:  SC in first three sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next three sc and two sc in next sc around (40 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 6:  SC in first four sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next four sc and two sc in next sc around (48 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 7:  SC in each sc around, Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 8:    SC in first five sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next five sc and two sc in next sc around (56 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1

Row 9:  SC in back loop only (blo) of each sc around.  Join with ss, ch 1

Row 10:  Sc in each sc around, do not join, but continue to work in the round until basket measures approximately 3 inches.

Next:  SC in next four sc, decrease sc in next 2 sc around.  Repeat 7 more times.  (48 sc.) Do not join, continue to work in round.

Next:  SC in each sc (48 sc) Do not join, continue to work in round.

Next:  Ch 8, skip 4 sc, sc in each of next 20 sc, ch 8, skip 4 sc, sc in each of next 20 sc.  Join to first ch of ch 8.  Ch 1.

Next:  Work reverse sc in each sc and in each ch around.  join to first reverse sc.  bind off and weave in ends.

Happy Monday!  I have been researching the whole blog thing and not sure I am still on the right track.  Taking lots of time!

Any way, I am going to be listing some yarns for sale on ebay.  I have some Silky Wool from Elsebeth Lavold in about 4 different colors, and several other high end yarns and fibers.  There is not enough time to make everything I want!  I should be posting these later today and will share on facebook and here.

So, this is a scarf and headband set made for a friend.  Very simple double and half double crochet made in Vanna's Choice worsted weight yarn.  Flowers are so cool!  and very popular right now.
Welcome to my blog!  This is new for me, so bear with me as the site goes through growing pains!  Hopefully it won't be too bad.

I have been in love with crochet and fiber since I was about 11 years old.  There have been sabbaticals from the art for long periods, but I always come back.  Recently, I have been exploring the possibility of sharing my love for fiber, crochet, knit and design and have finally gotten up enough courage to take the plunge.  What's the worst that can happen, no one reads it?  Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained~~

I hope to start having some pictures of some of my work up shortly and eventually start sharing some of my own designs.  (SCARY!)  Well...here goes!  Enjoy!
