Small Basket

So today, I will post my first pattern.  I have seen similar designs on other internet locations, but it is not my intention to copy anyone elses pattern or design.  I did not use anything but my imagination and knowledge when designing this basket.   So to begin;

Materials:
about 2 ounces of worsted weight yarn per color, project is worked holding two strands of yarn together.  I used Red Heart Super Saver and Michael's Impeccable both acrylic yarns.  (this is a great project to use up those scraps!)
Size I hook, or any size needed as guage is not important, tight stitches for structure are more important.

Pattern:

Whenever I work in the round, I like to begin with a magic loop because it does not leave a hole in the center of the project, however, if you like to begin with a chain, chain 3 and join.

Row 1:  8 single crochet in loop made by chains or magic loop.  Join last stitch to first with a slip stitch, chain 1.

Row 2:  Two single crochet in each sc around (16 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 3:  SC in first sc, two sc in next sc sc in next sc and two sc in next sc around (24 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 4:  SC in first two sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next two sc and two sc in next sc around (32 sc).  Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 5:  SC in first three sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next three sc and two sc in next sc around (40 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 6:  SC in first four sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next four sc and two sc in next sc around (48 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 7:  SC in each sc around, Join with ss, ch 1.

Row 8:    SC in first five sc, two sc in next sc, sc in next five sc and two sc in next sc around (56 sc.) Join with ss, ch 1

Row 9:  SC in back loop only (blo) of each sc around.  Join with ss, ch 1

Row 10:  Sc in each sc around, do not join, but continue to work in the round until basket measures approximately 3 inches.

Next:  SC in next four sc, decrease sc in next 2 sc around.  Repeat 7 more times.  (48 sc.) Do not join, continue to work in round.

Next:  SC in each sc (48 sc) Do not join, continue to work in round.

Next:  Ch 8, skip 4 sc, sc in each of next 20 sc, ch 8, skip 4 sc, sc in each of next 20 sc.  Join to first ch of ch 8.  Ch 1.

Next:  Work reverse sc in each sc and in each ch around.  join to first reverse sc.  bind off and weave in ends.
